Dividend Income

This content was saved from the old investmenthunting.com website, in case anyone was still looking for it (with the help of archive.org)

I track monthly dividend income and track my progress by increased year-over-year dividend income. I started building an investment portfolio in January 2014. I spent the better part of 2014 growing my new dividend portfolio. I did not keep very good records in 2014, so for the entire year of 2014 I have listed the total dollar amount received in dividend income.

From January 2015 forward, I list all dividend income received and break dividends out by month, stock ticker, number of shares, and dividend amount. My Investment Hunting Portfolio lists all stocks I’m invested in, along with my cost basis. This dividend income page is updated at the beginning of each month.

One of my ongoing annual goals will be to add $50,000 in new capital to my Investment Hunting Portfolio. I plan on adding this amount annually from now at age 43 until 2043, age 70. Of my annual $50,000 capital addition, the breakdown will be $18,000 (401k), $11,000 (2 – Roth IRAs), and $21,000 to my personal brokerage accounts, currently held with Interactive Brokers and Schwab.

I will take advantage of catch-up retirement perks and increase my annual allocations to that which current federal law allows. Additionally, my wife may go back to work once our youngest child is in college. If this happens I will add an additional $18,000 annually to her 401k. Please visit my strategy page to learn more about my long-term retirement strategy.

If you are not already doing so, I encourage you to track your monthly dividend income and list them on a spreadsheet. This way you will be able to easily see how well your strategy is working. As always, your questions, comments and insights are encouraged. Please join in on the conversation.
