Sam Dogen, better known as the Financial Samurai created the Yakezie Network, which is a network of elite bloggers. Yakezie offers a challenge designed to help blogs increase their Alexa ranking. This challenge has been around for a few years and participants have realized amazing results. One of my goals for 2016 is to increase my Alexa ranking. I’m really impressed with my results to date, but I’ve noticed that I’ve reached a plateau. In an attempt to continue improving my score, I’m taking the challenge. As of today, I’m happy to announce that I’m officially entering the Yakezie Challenge. Quoting Barney Stinson, “Challenge Accepted.”

I’m excited to network with other Yakezie challengers. The end goal is to grow our ranking together by selfishly promoting other bloggers. I really enjoy doing this and I’m already doing so through my Blogger Interview Series and Good Reads series. For the next 6-months, I’ll be promoting more bloggers through guest posts and by increasing my social postings of others’ articles.

The Process – Yakezie Ranking Challenge

It’s not rocket science, but participation does take consistent effort. To participate bloggers must follow a set of rules, one is to publicly announce their participation, hence this post :-).

  1. Install the Alexa toolbar and list you current Alexa ranking
  2. Write new bog posts at least 2 times per week for six months.
  3. Add the Yakezie badge to your blog.
  4. Write a blog post announcing that you’ve joined the Yakezie Challenge.
  5. Promote others’ blogs and blog posts selflessly.

Goal of the Yakezie Alexa Challenge

The short-term goal of Yakezie participants is to have an Alexa score of 200,000 or lower after 6 months.

The long-term goal of the Yakezie participants is to build blogger relationships and to prove your commitment to your site.  Blogging is not easy and it’s not for everyone. By proving that you can commit to consistent interaction over a 6 month period, challengers might be invited to join the Yakezie Network.

My Yakezie Alexa Challenge Goals

As mentioned, I’ve been working on improving my Alexa score as of January 1st of this year. I’m really impressed with my results to date. On December 31st, 2015 my Alexa ranking was as follows:

  • Global Rank – 3,049,900
  • U.S. Rank – 621,857

Fast forward to today, my current Alexa ranking is:

  • Global Rank – 497,600
  • U.S. Rank – 86,050

I’m really happy with my Alexa results, but I know I can do better. My goal for the Yakezie Alexa Challenge is to take my Global Rank from 497,600 to 250,000; and my U.S. rank from 86,050 to 50,000. I assume it gets harder to improve the higher your ranking. Because of this, I think this challenge will be difficult for me, but I’m up for it.
